Nature Morte Co-Founder Peter Nagy Dies at 67
Peter Nagy, the American-born artist and gallerist who co-founded Nature Morte with Alan Belcher in New York's East Village in 1982, has died at 67 after a long illness, the gallery confirmed. Nagy moved to New Delhi around 1992 and re-established Nature Morte there in 1997, building it into one of the leading commercial galleries for Indian contemporary art; in August the gallery marked its 30th year with a new permanent Delhi space in Gulmohar Park, whose inaugural show's second half is still scheduled to run 22 October–12 December. Both the Delhi and Mumbai galleries will remain open, in keeping with his wishes. Coverage via The Art Newspaper and ArtReview.
